Converted from Phorums BB System
"But I obviously disagree with the completely ASSININE assertion that you have to actually play in a setting to be able to accurately critique it."
Pointing out that you don't actually play /Blue Rose/, and that by extension, you can't say you play that particular game weekly, isn't saying that at all.
Quoted from earlier: "I HAVE and do play the game regularly. I've been running a weekly game of it almost since the book came out."
Your own words. If you're not using the setting, you're not playing /Blue Rose/. You're playing its take on the True20 system instead (Blue Rose True20). Keep your facts straight. Spell ASININE correctly while you're at it.
"Well sure, you'd have to be quite the retard to play in a setting you despise week after week. But I am running the True 20 system, and specifically as it appears in blue rose (since I started the campaign back before True20 even existed as a seperate book, back when GR was proclaiming there was no intention of making a non-blue rose true20 product)."
My point exactly. Now that that's changed, and there /is/ a True20 pdf out there, all you have to do is mention the version of True20 you're using.
"First of all, that doesn't even apply to system. Yes, a critique of a system as played will be different than a critique of a system as read, and worth more. But you don't have to play a system to know whether its rules lite, rules heavy, dice-pool based, d20-based, whether it is complex in appearance or looks like it runs simple."
Speaking of facts, I don't recall saying anything concerning critiquing systems. As a matter of fact, I complimented the True20 system, which certainly deserves every bit of praise it gets. Don't put words in my mouth. Ever.
"So if you want to criticize spike for not playing BR in his review of the system, go right ahead. But if you are claiming that he can't give a reiew of the SETTING because he hasn't subjected himself to a multi-hour head-beating waste of time running a game in nanny-state land, then you are doing nothing but proving that the Aldis-defenders are nothing more than a mob of belligerent lackwits who will absolutely refuse to tolerate any criticism of the Blue Rose setting, and will go to the most absurd lengths and leaps of logic to try to reject any of the same."
Ah, here's an actual absurd length and leap of logic. You're doing nothing right now but proving you're a loudmouthed moron with a grudge against said Aldis defenders, and a very poor grasp of facts to boot. Here you are again putting words in my mouth. I've said nothing about Spike, and I don't intend to change that. Even if I had, Spike is capable of defending himself when people challenge him.
