In Blue Rose, "the talented, but untrained fellow" who doesn't buy a Will augmentation feat is just as "robust at resisting magic" as an Adept who also lacks such a feat. They both make a Will save--it's just that it will be easier for both of these PCs to resist the Arcana of an untrained Wild Talent or a trained non-Adept than it will be for them to resist the Arcana of a trained Adept or a PC with the Arcanum feat (who makes up in focus what she lacks in versatility).
