I think it's pretty clear. It's also pretty clear that the game has hit a nerve with some people. Probably several. I suspect that the authors are not entirely unhappy with this since controversy generates buzz and potential sales. Better to be looked over than overlooked, after all.

That and, of course, one hopes that societies designed by a GM aren't simply "Mary Sue" societies, where all good things seem to be present and no bad (however these are defined by the author). This may be the real thing that bugs some readers about Aldis. I mean many people have criticized the Shire hobbits from LotR on these grounds and--despite my liking for the story overall--I think it's a fair cop in many places.
