I guess I enjoy the tragic pattern of proud nation too busy fighting amongst themselves to ward off the real enemy until its too late. Many of my fantasy PCs are flavored with healthy doses of Vercingetorix.
People's reactions to this are interesting. Personally, I loved the Khale until I started a heavy campaign in Ammeni. Now, the Ammenites (not their government - the people) are my favorites. The Khaleans always come off as stoners in my game for some reason.
