Re: [RPG]: True20, reviewed by Tim Gray (3/4)

I enjoyed the review, Tim - I agree with many of your comments, especially that the damage track in True20 is needlessly complex. The Mutants & Masterminds damage track is a thing of beauty, on account of its simplicity. But somehow this new version just got a bit unwieldy. In my own homebrew, I tried using the True20 track and then gave up and am now using hit points, but with thresholds (that is, any wound above a certain threshold will have additional effects, such as stun or bleeding). It is a lot simpler.

One question I have, for those who have both Blue Rose and True20:

How much has changed between Blue Rose and this new generic version of True20?

From Tim's review, I gather a number of things have changed, including some pretty big things (Dex adds to melee attack, Armour adds to Toughness).

And apart from setting info, is there anything this new generic version has left out?

Oh - and, Tim, I'm not surprised you missed the 'holding back' rule. In Blue Rose, this wasn't clearly spelled out at all and had to be clarified on the forums. It's a very important part of their magic system and really ought to have been made very clear in the rules.
