While I don't own the new rules, I do own the old ones, and while I suspect the focus of the game is less centered on the traditional monsters, they can still be used. And the traditional monsters are extremely powerful in this system, psychic abilities or not. A group would have to be extremely well-prepared and skilled, and know exactly what they were walking into, in order to confront and defeat a vampire or a werewolf in BtS. A significant part of a campaign could be devoted to researching and tracking down just ONE vampire, and gathering the tools necessary to defeat it (vampires originally had a LOT of hit points, and beyond that were nearly impossible to bring down with gunfire and normal damage, so prepare well!). Psychic powers would help, but would not be enough by themselves to end a vampire's existence. And God help the group that is caught unprepared by a werewolf! ONE can rip its way through an entire PC group!
