Those glass beads from "cardboard crack" games
, make sense, too, though they might not be sufficiently consistently colored. Poker chips would meet that requirement. Lots of small D6s of various colors are also easy to come by. IMO, a piece of paper with a pre-made track would also work reasonably well.
