Actually if the game had been supported and a Arrakis Box Set came out I might have a completely different attitude towards it.

I guess it comes down to what people wanted to do with a Dune game. The great and minor houses romping around the galaxy is cool. But for me I had a great fading suns game where my players did that. What I always wanted to do was start a campaign shortly after the fall of house Atreides. Have the players all make young Fremen working there way up in there clan and follow them through the rise of Muad Dib and the Jihad, all the way to the start of the reign of the god emperor. Maybe even have them play there decendants even past that.
