Ah... Well, if that's your main objection to the term, I don't think it really applies to a/state. That's what people call the creatures, not what they call themselves, AFAIK. The only Shifted who really communicated with humans in a remotely coherent fashion are the Simils, and my guess is that they (1) don't have a collective term for the other various non-human otherworldly creatures in the City and (2) don't give a damn what humans call them.

Care to share your thoughts on the subject, Malcolm?
