A thousand people have already enjoyed Star Wars for every one that ever has been or ever will be acquanited with Firefly/Serenity. Hell, people will still be writing college essays on Star Wars in 2105.
You probably enjoyed the movie, so good for you, but let's not get completely absurd now.

The question isn't will people still be writing essays about Star Wars in 2015, but will they ,As I was told by a teacher at the film school I graduated from, that any any dork can write a half way pretentious paper about a kids film and call it insightful. Fact is yeah many people probably do write about Star Wars in college, (I for one was told not to bother) but how many of them will get good grades for being "insightful" about the same movie that 1/3 of the class was "insightful" about last year.
Firefly and serenity have not had the immediate success of Star Wars, this is true. but you are being equally rediculous in counting them off so quickly. Lucas, can only exend the saga so far now, (assuming he really does break down and make 2 tv series). and to be fair Serenity has seen low theatre numbers but will most likely kill in DVD sales/rentals. I have met few people who gave this show any kind of chance who did not end up loving it. Just keep this in mind Pokemon and Power Rangers were also instant successes, much like Star Wars. and they wore thin (as Did Star Wars post Jedi/Ewok movies) It could very well do so again, especially if the TV show is terrible (as whoever shows it is bound to give it a hell of a lot better chance than Firefly got!)
