"Most anticipated" doesn't necessarily translate into sales in the theatres--your typical movie-goer doesn't "anticipate" movies, but rather goes to what looks best of what is available at the time. Your comment about how it failed after only one season also ignores WHY it was yanked and how popular it actually is (as can obviously be seen from the above sales figures.) The fact that the movie didn't draw in enough general interest from the Average Joes and Janes has nothing to do with how anticipated the movie was or even how good it was considering how many reviewers and people who actually did go to the theatres absolutely loved it. The failure is largely attributable to poor marketing to people other the rather large group of fans around the world who were anticipating the movie's release.
