Having now read the whole thread, I note that ISTR that Prince Valiant used coin flipping, which might well be called dice pools with fixed target number. And Unisystem used fixed target number without dice pools. Perhaps we could say SR4 steals from them instead of Exalted. Actually, isn't ST based on Ars Magica? I wonder what the first game to use dice is. Whatever game that is, SR4 plainly rips that game off with it's dice-having ways.
