In the survival tips themselves. Every now and then there are jabs at modern materials (elastic in underwear for example). I've actually heard some of these from militia members who wanted to laugh at all the "civillians" when society came crashing down. What frightened/disgusted me the most was when a few
of these individuals were looking forward to gunning down the same silly civillians for sport. The kind of imagery this invokes can make a person very wary when they perceive similar thoughts.
Now, do I think the text fits the book? Yes. However, I did say I didn't like that kind of voice and that is purely personal opinion. I'm sure you could ask a thousand other people and they would completely disagree with me.
