Good Review
Nice review. You did a great job of capturing a feel for the game.
One interesting aspect of Three-Dragon is that because you carry the cards in your hand over into the next gambit, there is a strategic aspect of the game where you consider whether to play a card in this gambit or a build a stronger play for the next gambit.
The special powers also can produce some tactical challenges. The principal tactical choice in each round is whether to play a large value card for points or a smaller one who's power will trigger. Also, you can have a winning hand but wind up capturing a tiny pot if other players play cards to steal from the pot. The Dragonslayer can take a card out of an opponent's flight. Most significantly, the Druid can change the objective of the gambit so that the lowest value flight wins.
Three-Dragon is a fun game that has an added advantage in that you can play as many or as few gambits as you have time or interest for.
