“Dragon Fire” Compressed Laser Rifle
Taking advantage of the latest in microrobotic manufacturing and “enhanced lethality wavelength” lasers, the Dragon Fire is the meanest little plasma weapon out there. Though some complain that it is a semi-automatic only weapon, a single shot from one of these is a hell of a lot more deadly than a whole magazine of regular bullets. On top of that a six gigawatt bullpup power cell, 12x low-light tactical scope, and an overall length of less than half a meter means that ever soldier worth their salt wants one of these bad boys.
Though production has been slow -damn those saboteurs!-, most units operating on “The Outside” have been equipped with one of these at this point. Rear-line and Dome security forces are scheduled to get their first shipment within a few months.
Range: 20/80/200/700/1200
Damage: D10x6 (30)*
Capacity: 80 shots on 1 small power cell; semi-automatic fire only
EV: 6/3
Cost: $2,000
Aval: Military only (Rare)
* Plasma-based weapons like this are particularly nasty: if Geneva Convention was still around these would probably be banned under it. Though the intense heat these generate instantly cauterizes a wound, the shockwave it sends through the organs and tissue surrounding the point of impact make it very deadly. All damage to unarmored targets is tripled. Damage to armored targets (except fully-sealed armor) is doubled. Basically, don’t get in front of the business end of one of these babies.
Ceramic Armor
The devastation and pollution The War caused left vast portions of the world hostile to Dome Dwellers. The dangers posed both by the atmosphere itself and those who lived outside the Domes created a desperate need for highly-durable, environmentally-sealed armor. Ceramic armor combines a Nuclear, Biological, Chemical protection suit with ballistic/energy-based weapons resistant materials for the highest protection from all possible threats. A complete set includes a sealed body suit* and a compatible helmet, gloves, and all-terrain boots.
All areas of the body, save those that have to remain flexible, are encased in lightweight, multilayered ceramic/Kevlar laminate for maximum safety. The suit has its own air supply that will last a normal sized man up to 8 hours while performing intense physical activity in unhospitable atmospheric conditions. The helmet also includes thermal/night vision goggles, a built-in squad radio, and an integrated Heads-Up Display with navigation and weapons interfaces.
