I had a very enjoyable game with four. Eight, the maximum, might be a bit much -- I'd cut down the number of clones for that many people, I think.

The cards, tokens, and rulebook come in a box that seems pretty sturdy, as does the rulebook itself. (Of course, since you can print out the latter, that's not that big of a deal.)
