Re: [RPG]: Truth &Justice, reviewed by Tim Kirk (5/5)
Tim, I won't go into the whole 'Forbush Man versus Galactus' thing, other than to say, again, that I don't need to pay money for rules that don't handle the situations I need to resolve, and I don't usually need a 'Game System' to resolve things like 'Marital Stress'...
Isn't that what the Roleplaying part is all about?
On the other hand, that GURPS quote you bring up is something that I consider to have been the Death of Champions!
Before I started hearing that 'mantra', Champions used to be fun to play...
ever since, people have been so obsessed with 'balance', and other total nonsense, that I can only barely stand to play the game any more (and even then, NOT if the GM starts hauling out that quote!)...
It's why I treated the initial 100 point base that all characters started with as a faux Psychological Limitation: "Dumb enough to be a Superhero"!
Just because the GM doesn't think that 'Love of Puppydogs' isn't 'much' of a limitation doesn't mean that the character should get NO points for it!
Sure, taking that one at "All the Time, Total Commitment" is pretty silly (but, then, so is "Hunts his Parent's Murderers", at that level!}...
but, any GM who can't have his Villains use this against the Hero {"Hold it right there, UltraMegaMan, or this Puppy gets reduced to Primordial Slime!"}, just isn't thinking very hard...
