Yeah. That's a possibility, actually I thought it was always "right" (for MSH) the other way--you go on dates/do normal mundane stuff because the game /encourages you with a reward you can later use to benefit the heroic side/, the breaking date, and lost karma means its harder to succeede in the end--mind you MSH is focused on the action side of things not the relationship, Truth and Justice, should be focused on both equally (and as noted in the conflict chapter, it missed the ball a bit there)

Both are valid and fun ways to do things--a broken date means Spider-man risks not doing as well, Spider-man is probably angsting all over the date being broken and THUS is why he can't dig as deep to overcome obstacles, because he's distracted.

So its taking different perspectives on cause and effect.

Basically both attack the same problem of getting to deal with the relationships/life events. Just different handles for the same fancing foil, some people like one grip some like the other.
