Re: Thankyou for you co-operation
Thanks for the link. Having read it, I absolutely agree that this sounds very, very interesting. (A game set on the Elemental Pole of Oil or Smoke... *drool*)
Here's what I'd use from an Exalted Fatsplat (judging from my other Exalted books) and maybe you could tell me if, all things considered, Autobots would be a worthwhile purchase for me:
I could imagine using the setting, meaning the background, "facts" about the Autochtonian metaphysik and his Exalted, and so on. If Autobots is anything like the other Fatsplats, I'd use use established cities/characters/spells/eqipment, but probably only as inspiration. Something to be discarded on a whime if ym own ideas sound cooler to me. (Though those are often still a usefull thing to have.) More or less the same with the three campaign ideas: I'll use them if they are as cool as they sound (Especially the "Abyssals invade!" one sounds rather nifty.), but I might not use them. The idea of running a BLAME!-inspired Exated game (A group of Alchemical Exalted adventuring in the shifting and growing Metal guts of a Primordial to rescue their peoples. Maybe they even come from a "lost city, only meeting the few communities that survived the downfall of Autochtonian civilisation. ... Could be a nice post-apokalyptic game set after the Great Contagion, when mankind has forgotten way too much.) sounds good to me and seems to be doable without completly discarding everything in teh book.
I'm also very interested in stuff like the machine antibodies and other critters that happen to live in Autobots guts. I'd imagine that Autochton is an incredibly hostile place, especially if you leave the city. It's not a place for humans, and I'd like to see whole populations of once-dutyfull seritors now interbreeding freely, mutating beyond their original duties...
Is stuff like that in the book?
What I know I'll probably not use if lot's of the "crunch". The chance of actually running a by-the-book Exalted game are slim to non-existant and so this would only be usefull for me as inspiration. On the other hand, Charms, Protokols and Equipment can be extremly usefull in providing said inspiration. It's very usefull to know that Autobots Chosen can have charms which basically give them a built-in railgun. Even more so if it has pictures to go with it.
So while I won't actually use the mechanical parts of the rules, stuff like "This charm gives you a BIG FUCKING GUN that makes holes THIS big." or "Your body is filled with tiny spiders wielding tiny blowtorches which can SHRED YOUR ENEMY TO PULP!!!" would still be usefull to me.
So, what do you think: Good purchase or not?
