It's easy enough to emulate an average full season (24 eps) by stringing three "5's" and one "9" together or three "9's" for a slightly longer season than normal (I think most US seasons last 22-26 eps).

That said, it bugged me a bit, too. The author's point is that most groups wouldn't play a full season, but I still would've liked to see it "canonized" in the rules for us ambitious players!
