Overall layout and readability is still good though. I guess that's why I agree with the 4 star (which is still high) rating.
Now L5R 3rd ed on the other hand.... Yeah, that I though was top notch.

The art was just as comic-booky in 1.0, it was just in B&W.
Though by sticking with one art team, they really pushed some buttons, either you like it, or your don't.
The 4 was mostly for the big dump of the gear tables in the middle. It really makes gearing up harder than it has to be. I didn't find readability to be a big issue. I would be more apt to give Pulp Hero a four as well; what the art works (like the classic pulp covers) its great; but when it doesn;t it falls flat.
