Obviously there are some differences of opinion here. I think the biggest problem might be that it's difficult to leave off and return to later, which was how I had to read it. But it still struck me as a poorly explained mess with too much puzzle-piecing inherent to the learning process. FanPro could stand to add another term to the stuff they copied from the Windows Users' Manual: KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid).

Emphatically not, at least in my case. As a veteran of every edition of the game, I always felt it needed some improvement in the accessibility department, and in everything but the Matrix that need has been answered. The Matrix benefits from the improved dice mechanics that simplified the game system, but the procedures and rules are just as clunky and arcane as ever, if only because of the poor explanation of how they work. Equipment for the Matrix is similarly lacking in explanation of what does what, and often why it's needed at all. An improved gear list for the Matrix would go a long way toward clearing up the unneeded mystery, as would a better organized and explained chapter on the Matrix itself.

For all I know, Conan, you're just better at puzzle-piecing than those of us who had problems with the Matrix. But I can see this being a problem for beginning GMs, and that's supposed to be who the game is aimed at.
