The problem is that publishers don't speak out about sales figures and the magazines base their figures on distribution and retailer reports. Those figures will not be taking into account direct sales and sales by distributors and retailers not associated with those magazines.

A better measure is the number of print runs and planned releases that make it to actual publication.
Yeah, ICv2 method was flawed at best. No Amazon, no direct sales from FanPro, no PDF market...

Speaking of which, here's a related press release from December 11th:

eBooks in 2005 Summary

DriveThruRPG just published their list of the top 100 products of 2005, and we’re very pleased to be well-represented on that list! We have two products in the top twenty — Shadowrun, Fourth Edition at #4, and System Failure at #19. We’re one of only three companies with products in the top twenty — sharing those spots with White Wolf/Sword & Sorcery Studios and Malhavoc Press.

Other Shadowrun products in the top 100 are:

* #28 — Shadowrun Character Dossier
* #34 — Shadowrun Third Edition
* #65 — Magic in the Shadows
* #75 — Renraku Arcology: Shutdown

2005 was our first year publishing ebooks, and we had a few mis-steps: most notably the problems with the original version of the SR4 eBook, which have long since been fixed, and slightly less output than we would like. We still managed to get 26 Shadowrun titles online — from our newest stuff to classics like Bug City, Universal Brotherhood and Dunkelzahn’s Secrets: Portfolio of a Dragon.

To those of you who supported our eBook publishing in 2005: Thank you, and look for more of them in 2006 [and maybe one or two more before the end of 2005…]

And here's the Top 100 list, of which I'll just post the first ten:

1. Iron Heroes
2. Monte Cook's Arcana Evolved
3. Mastering Iron Heroes
4. Shadowrun, Fourth Edition
5. The Temple of Mysteries: In Media Res
6. Transcendence: An Arcana Evolved Player’s Companion
7. The Book of Roguish Luck
8. Mage: The Awakening
9. Ruins of Intrigue
10. World of Darkness Rulebook

Currently, SR4 is #12 in the Hottest Items list.
