Yes, I said thirty. Uncovering Exordius's final rite requires a Knowledge check, DC 31.
FYI, DC30 is listed in the Knowledge skill rules as a typical DC for very obscure knowledge. And, remember, it's the total bonus the PC needs to make the check, not solely ranks. Taking 10, the PC would need a +21 bonus, which is do-able for an Int 18 wizard or bard at 14th level; assuming some feats that pump this up and possible bonuses for access to research materials, this could possibly be achieved at 9th level.

Of course, this also assumes the PC is maxing out Knowledge (history), which is pretty silly. I think we're squarely in "hire an NPC sage" territory here.

Anyway, a very good review; it sums up the main reasons why I ended up getting rid of my copy. The intelligent items from BoEM are more to my taste.

Not to mention, why not simply reward the PC with an icrease in weapon power instead of GP? As long as the abilities they have access to are commensurate with the Wealth-by-Level guidelines, everything should be good. Dang complicated solutions to simple problems...
