The one complaint that I have about D&Z is the way that Eden organizes their books. For my money, I'd as soon have had all the critters in a consolidated chapter on Creatures, perhaps with a worked example or two of how to build fantasy nasties using the Zombie creation rules.
That would have been a good idea, I agree.

I'd also have liked a chapter on world-building and maybe a chapter with mass battle rules, naval rules and the like. And I'd have happily said goodbye to several of the Deadworlds in order to get that.
Well, at least you'll be getting your naval rules in the AFMBE pirate supplement...

But, to be honest, my issue is mainly that I'm looking for a different kind of toolbox than Eden is in the market of producing. I want more system toys with which I can make my own dingus, whereas Eden offers great meaty chunks of example and expects me to go off and infer the rest.

Which is fine, I guess.
Yeah. I think it's hard to give a bad rating to a book that accomplishes its goals while not meeting your own, unless you can make a convincing case that the book's goals aren't worth accomplishing.
