I wished we'd have had the room to do a full corebook; the Unisystem fantasy things I could've done with more space, I think, would blow your mind. But for the space and format limitations we had to work with, I think we scored a pretty solid hit. Maybe not a grand slam, but definitely extra bases .
I agree, obviously -- hence the "5" substance rating.

That being said, there is a mention that profession Qualities are optional; players aren't required to take one, and it's also mentioned that the racial qualities are intended as archetypical examples, not the "be all, end all."
Speaking of hindsight being 20/20, I should have mentioned that the book includes racial abilities that aren't tied to any specific race, allowing for "do-it-yourself" fantasy races.

So yeah...you should have no trouble at all removing anything you see as D&D-isms. The idea was to give an AFMBE fantasy toolkit that would allow you to create any kind of fantasy game you like.

Thanks for the review, Dan! I'm sure you know, I've been waiting for this forever, and it was very fair and balanced, as are all of your reviews.

My pleasure, Jason! And thanks very much. I'm glad you liked it.

(Oh, and up next, I have something a bit special planned for my 100th review... )
