Whatever happened to AC/Defense? I noticed in your example the d20 character seems to get hit automatically each round; not very realistic, especially if he's using total defense (which, as xenongames points out, is the d20 equivalent of Dodging).

Btw, the average roll of 6d6 is 21, not 23. OTOH, I can't help wondering how you'd permananently lose 6 points of Con in 6 levels in d20.
a) You're right. At the time, I had misremembered how DODGE works. That's why I said later on to assume it's the character parrying, not dodging. But even with Total defence, you're looking at an AC of about 16/17 - 10+ 2(dex) + 4 (total defence) + 1 (dodge feat or other thing). The base point I was making is that in BRP, your defenses grow as you gain experience. In standard d20, your defenses do not grow, but instead you gain hit points. I'm only clarifying here, however, as I'd rather not start the argument up again.

b) Average hit point roll assumes that at first level all characters get 6 hit points, not randomly. So, It's really the average of 6+5d6, which is about 23.

c) Well, the idea was that they had both been adventuring for a while, and both had gone from 12 to 6 con. In BRP, this is only a little bad - you go from (say) 10 hit points to (say) 8. in d20, it's very bad.

It's the leap from "d20 CoC exists primarily for economic reasons" to "d20 CoC is inferior to BRP and only narrow-minded people play it" that bothers me.
*shrug* I don't see BRP as being greatly inferior to d20. I think there are things that d20 does better, and I think there's things that BRP does better. Heck, in my last game of Call of Cthulhu, I used FUDGE. The narrow-mindedness only seems to come from people who attack Cthulhu d20, IMHO.
