Anyway, while EoS may not have the development of other mainstream games from what I can see its better off mechanically than some of the best RPGs Ive played in their "Basic" Edition. D&D itself is an example. EoS shows alot more potential IMO. That said, its almost a shame that it wasn't a bit more open for a general audience because it does have potential to be very interesting game and system.
Is the concept unique? As far as I can tell it is. You cant say its bad because it dosent fit your genre or you "dont like it." Thats what made the original critique of this game bogus IMO.
Do the mechanics promote storytelling, horror, all the stuff i think the Cthulu mythos relate to? Yes. One of the main points of the whole thing.
Personally I'd run (and hope to run soon) the Empire of Satanis as a type of a Call of Cthulu / Horror mystery game where the characters interact with fiends and may eventually evolve to one. Example movies in a similar line are the Lord of Illuisons, The Ninth Gate, this could even do vampire stuff like the new Bloodrayne movie. Books include all the horror greats from Lovecraft to C. Barker, and Stephen King. (Ok so I dont know alot about pop culture, bid deal....) Then in future campaigns, once Ive revealed the fiend realm of Yidathroth is known to the players Id allow them to make fiends directly and terrorize new seekers.
OH AND BY THE WAY
