Eh, considering that in
Kult God was not only humanity's greatest enemy but also now presumed dead, and that technically in the setting it would be possible to reach eventual enlightenment through sadistic pedophilia, I'd say that "biblical interpretation" isn't exactly the first expression that comes to mind... In that game, shedding your humanity
is the key to regaining your original divinity, and whether you do it by ascending through cold logic or descending to the foulest imaginable lusts doesn't really matter in the end.
(Also, the Fiends in
EoS do indeed possess humanly comprehensible interests and emotions, and that alone is enough to separate them from the entities in Lovecraft's fiction: Cthulhu that you can imagine is not true Cthulhu. The universe of the Mythos has no interest in tormenting our insignificant species, and no place for Hell.)
