Characters

Here are some of my characters, built right off the basic rules, often using a fairly obvious build:

Jack is a pretty straightforward PI. He's a vet who had trouble adjusting to civvie life. He tried to make it as a cop, but wanted more independence. He's got a lot of Gut, and is very perceptive.

Bennie was Jack's best friend in the service. They were inseparable during the war. But, after they got back home, Bennie changed. Now, he's a gaunt. He works construction, and picks up a little extra dough on the gaunt boxing circuit. When Jack needs a little extra muscle on a case, he tends to call in Bennie.

Star was a rising talent as a singer. Until she kicked the wrong guy out of her bed. He came back, and sliced up her face pretty bad. Her career was over, but she still had the Moxie and the connections. She runs a nightclub of her own, now. She's Jack's on-again off-again lover, and his primary contact with the underworld.

Marlene was a spy. She knows that much. She slept with powerful men to learn their secrets. She's got problems, though. She's got memories of those secrets that don't make any sense. Nobody seems to remember that they're supposed to be paying her. And, she doesn't even remember which side it was that she was spying for. She's a major figure in the Few, now, though more in the way of getting things done than making decisions. She's a crack shot, and a hell of a driver.

Fontaine is a money man. He loves money. He loves using money to get what he wants. He is bold and ruthless. He's also recently become convinced to join the Few. His money and political connections can solve a lot of problems that a gun and a good right hook just can't.

George is a geek. There's some question as to whether he's ever had a date. But, he's smart as a whip. He spends all day down in his labs, working on this or that. And, yes, he works with "magic." What he does with thermal energy would make your eyes pop out of your head, if you ever saw them. He works directly for Fontaine, who likes the prestige of having a pet warlock more than deriving any practical value from him. Which suits George just fine.

Diego is a broken man. He was a warlock. Now he's a cop. He was forced to sell his soul to avoid "the treatment." Now he spends his time hunting down other warlocks. What time he doesn't spend at the bottom of a bottle, that is.
