Re: [RPG]: Call of Cthulhu, reviewed by Travire (5/5)
I'm well aware that Call of Cthulhu is both very old and very popular. If you just wanted to publicly celebrate the game, there's a perfectly good forum available. But trying to pass it off as a review seem disingenious. Reviews are supposed to be informative, this one just tells me that you love Call of Cthulhu.
On a more constructive note, I'm automatically suspicious of any review that is either 100% positive (or 100% negative for that matter). Nothing's ever that straightforward. It makes a more convincing review when I can see that the reviewer is aware of the "character flaws" of whatever they're reviewing, but is able to make the argument that they don't significantly detract from the quality of the whole.
When I see a claim as bold as the ones you make here, I know that the review writer is too close to what's being reviewed. I'm not just reading a review to be told what to think about a game, I'm looking for information to form my own opinion. I've no use for reviews that one-sided because I can't rely on the reviewer so see far enough past their overall judgement of the game to give me a useful appraisal.
