Freud did not have anything to do with inmates in mental institutions as you claim, but based most of his theories around sessions he held with rich clients in Vienna. His focus was not on the mentally ill but on the neurosis of 'normal' men and women. I only mentioned Frasier as he's probably well known by many - but how many famous psychologists do you know of any discipline ?

You obviously studied accountancy at university, but I studied psychology
I do appear to have made a claim not based on fact, and I apologioze. Then again, it was very Freudian of me.

The most frequent criticism about Freud (and there are many), is that his work was not science. He did not rely on the scientific method, and as such his "theories" cannot be properly called that in the scientific sense. They are hypotheses.

His work was not science, it was dogma. From Wikipedia:

Freud had little tolerance for colleagues who diverged from his psychoanalytic doctrines. He attempted to expel those who disagreed with the movement or even refused to accept certain central aspects of his theory (Corey, 2001): the most notable examples are Carl Jung and Wilhelm Reich. Freud wrote a stinging attack on both Jung and Alfred Adler in a piece called "On the History of the Psycho-Analytic Movement."

Very scientific of him. Freud was obsessed with sex, and admitted later in life that he remembered having sexual feelings toward his mother in his youth (whether it's true or simply a false recovered memory, who knows).

Despite being very popular in some sense, Freud's work in modern times is scorned by scientists. My wife did study psychology in university, and the main thing she learned is that psychologists are not scientists.

This really isn't relevant to the gaming discussion, so I think I'll stop there.
