Re: [RPG]: Call of Cthulhu, reviewed by Travire (5/5)

I shall try to sound more objective next time, but I didn't want to pick holes in the game about minor points which can easily be changed or ignored ( such as the ommision of a mathematics skill ).

The only criticism I did have was a matter of taste, and not a fault in the game. Some people do prefer to concentrate on strategy and tactics rather than roleplaying. And some enjoy developing a heroic persona with ever increasing powers. Call of Cthulhu on the other hand deliberately restricts the powers of investigators to more realistic limits. Players have to be satisfied playing relatively weak characters and take enjoyment more from the roleplaying and investigation side of the game. If this is to your taste then Call of Cthulhu will be a game you will really enjoy, if its not then you might not find the style to your liking.

I hope that helps to clarify what I said in the review. Maybe I'll have a crack at reviewing Dungeons and Dragons next !
