I really appreciate the honest feedback.
FYI, you hit the nail on the head w/r/t the Tension rules. I wrote them specifically to mechanize GM fudging.
Since all the numbers in the game are fixed (no modifiers), and die rolls are completely open, there's zero opportunity for GMs to manipulate the story if the PCs band together (especially in larger groups), pool their Survival Points, and wreack havoc on poor isolated Creatures. Now, I personally don't have any problem with this. If players work together, they certainly should have an edge. But most GMs in traditional RPGs are used to having a little more control over the game environment, a little bit more secrecy regarding their plans and in-game possibilities, and a little more muscle than the PCs.
Tension mechanics provide all that with minimal complexity.
