If you go strictly with the given setting then, yes you need to have been born on the century day to be a true "spirit" of the century. Having said that, I can't see how it would break the game in any way to allow others into the century club and downplay the spirit part of the setting. Others have already started discussing running Star Wars, Star Trek, Tolken Fantasy, and other setting with the rules that have nothing to do with being born on a particular day. When you get right down to it... the default setting is only 5 out of over 400 pages.

Now if you really want to stick with the 'born on the century day' rule but want to be a different age... well there's always the old 'time travel' shtick
