Re: [Board/Tactical Game]: Pax Galacticum, reviewed by Matt Drake (4/5)

Just bought Battlestations after reading a few reviews(including Tom's). Haven't had a chance to play it yet. The rulebook seems to be good in content and quality, but it's almost like learning another roleplaying system. Something I haven't been keen on at the ripe old age of 36! :-) I'm already playing the Savage Worlds RPG, as well as D&D, and a few other flavorful games like Shadowrun, etc., but by and large Savage Worlds. As I get older, I find I like simplicity. Either way, I'm going to trudge hip deep into Battlestations. Can't comment on how well the game plays, but I'm not crazy about the cardboard characters. I think it's an issue of size and quality. I actually use a lot of cardboard mini's with rpg's, but these fall short. Otherwise, I'm happy with the rest of the components, the rulebook, and the box. I'll probably check back after I've played a few games. Good review. Tylermo P.S. I'm sure you've seen the metal mini's for Battlestations. I may eventually plunk the money down for those, if I like the game enough. Just a shame that they're not the size of a D&D or Heroscape mini.
