One thing that I found in the book and you didn't mention - it seems that they changed when a ghoul ceases to be a ghoul. There was an implication in V:tR that if a ghoul went without getting blood a month, they might cease to be a ghoul, even if willpower is still spent. In Ghouls, they make it clear that the willpower is all that's needed, meaning that a ghoul who got over the blood addiction and knew how to spend his own Willpower could theoretically be wholly independent, and gain many of the vampiric benefits and none of the weaknesses. If I were ever to do Blade in WoD, that's probably how I might do it.
