Re: [RPG]: The Zorcerer of Zo, reviewed by C.W.Richeson (4/4)
Seeing as how Zo is founded on Oz as a bedrock (look at the map - it's Oz, but as a peninsula instead of surrounded by desert), I'd like to see a March Laumer-esque supplement for it.
For those not familiar, March Laumer took the Oz books, got permission from the copyright holders of the still-in-copyright books, and published his own fiction, but added adult things (Gayalette sunbathing nude, the Frogman's legs being chopped off by a cannibal, Ozma a lesbian pining for Dorothy, a volcano filled with living human and animal parts, alternate-universe Nick Chopper killing a man, Button Bright swearing, Nimmie Amee having an affair on Chopfyt with Bini Aru, and that's the tip of the iceburg). He added a lot to the Oz mythos, but some things were a little much - "Wonderment increased as [Ozma] went around with the board as a serving tray [of sliced peaches], saying to all her nearest friends, 'Take and eat it. This is my body, which is given for you.'" (Dragons in Oz)
Perhaps the Zorcerer reveals himself as an avatar of Vishnu, the Blue Hood is attracted to an anthropomorphic form of the Grey Wind, Sir Horace Hogg nearly being turned into pork chops, Princess Charma returns from the dead, lusting for the blood of Glamorgan ("You broke my heart, so I shall consume yours!"), or the Isle of Forgotten Toys having a township for adult entertainments, which Princess Paige seeks out when she's old enough to desire it ("I'll not speak of a man being my sole source of confirmation of my womanhood! We sail tomorrow!").
That might be one of the darker campaigns, though. Could be fun, although I'll probably start out playing it rather straight-laced.
