Yeah, that's been our experience as well. Mind you, contrary to the suggestions of some the response hasn't been hatred but rather bemusement.

I think it's more the substance ratings rather than the reviews as such (strangely, the poor old style rating doesn't seem to get much of mention). I also suspect that there's an assumption that a '1' for AD&D1e also means a similar grade for AD&D2e, D&D RC, and D&D3.x - this of course assumes that the system hasn't been improved over the past thirty or so years. A rather strange (and nervous?) assumption to make!
