What I like most about the game (after only two plays) is that the trading mechanism doesn't involve negotiations. I generally dislike "trading games" (including Settlers) because, in a nutshell, I hate haggling. Mare Nostrum's "trading" is really "open drafting" which is fast, flexible, and can be done in silence while still involving "player interaction."
