I guess the ideal is to make it open to player choice: the basic rules are pretty simple, and you can play your character OK with just those if you don't want to get fancy, but there is additional filigree for those who like more detail or who want to flesh out a particular character concept. I'm trying to adopt an approach more consciously like that in a longer term project to revamp Albion.
