Yes, Mythic would work very well under those circumstances. When the game is played with a group, and no GM, the stuff that would normally be handled by a GM is handled by players asking questions and putting those questions to the Fate Chart. If you are playing with a group like this, normally whoever asks the question first gets it answered. If there is disagreement over what question to ask, the players can discuss it, but that rarely happens.

However, you could use a bidding process to allow only certain players to ask questions at certain times, which would give more control to one player, then another, etc.

There are other ways to handle it as well. For instance, giving turns on who can ask questions. But in answer to your question, yes, Mythic would work very well in a storytelling environment like that.
