Because of the texturing, it makes smaller fonts harder to read. Powerstorm, Magic the Gathering, and some other CCGs have occasional cards in 6 point font, with 10 point font being the median.
It also can interfere with the interpretation of the smaller, highly detailed pieces of artwork commonly displayed on CCG cards.
I only remember like 2 CCGs that used linen finish, and both of those games abandoned that finish over time.
