Yes, I would agree. If someone tells me a game is great or not, I'd like to know in what context. I've written one review here (of Savage Worlds, back when it first came out, which ended up being more positive than I think I would say now) so I won't claim some major league expertise at RPG reviews. That said, I believe it's good form in book reviews---of which I've written several for professional publications in my field---to give the reader an idea of where the writer is coming from. A review that only contains personal opinion of that sort isn't useful but a review that has no indication of what the reviewer's preferences are isn't all that useful either.
As to the contention that Star Wars D6 had quick combats, I'd have to laugh a little---he wasn't in
our games.

The sheer number of dice to total up could get really, really annoying, especially for the GM. It was darn hard to beat the D6 character's stat block, though. Man that was quick to do.
