But said forum poster was responding to the review, and the review was comparing d6 to d20. You can't just say that d6 combat is quick without addressing the question, "Compared to what?" 15-30 seconds is longer than 5-10 seconds; rolling one die and adding one number to it is quicker than rolling 5-10 dice and adding them all up. If you just compare the amount of dice-rolling and number-crunching required to resolve a single attack roll, d20 is the quicker game.
His comment simply stated that he didn't think D6 had quick combat. I disagreed. As for the 15-30 time I gave, that's a rough estimate. My point is that combat resolution doesn't take a significant amount of time, at least not to where we notice it causing the game to drag. Tell you what, we're playing Friday evening, I'll time the process and get back to you with real numbers.

Are you saying that d6 has no rules for bonuses or penalties to attack rolls?
It does indeed, but from what I've seen of various D20 games, the D6 bonuses/penalties don't take nearly as much time to look up. My experience has always been that D6 is a very rules light, wing it kind of game. We use bonuses and penalties, but the GM takes care of that on his end, raising or lowering the difficulty as he sees fit, and just tells us if we succeed or not. When I ran the game, I did the same thing.

D20, from what I've seen is a much crunchier system, and certain things are going to be more complicated to resolve. Sometimes I like a crunchier system, particularly in fantasy games, at which point I turn to HARP, as it is different enough from D&D/D20 that it resolves other issues that I have with D20, but that's a whole other thread. When it comes to Star Wars, we like things cinematic, and D6 fits that niche for us.

I will say, however, that I agree with certain comments I've seen scattered about that the Force system in D6 is wonky, and I could definitely see those rolls taking a while. It's not an issue for us, however, as we tend to play more in the smuggler/pirate/scoundrel end of the pool, not really having much to do with Jedi and what not. Since we play in the Rebellion Era (we're firmly in the "Han Shot First, There Are NO Prequels and/or Special Editions" camp), it's not an issue, since all the Jedi but Luke and Vader are pretty much dead, anyway.
