This sounds like a very interesting setting. I'm a fan of Transhuman Space and this definitely fills a different niche in the posthuman future with its galactic scope. I'm getting a strong Charlie Stross vibe off your description of the various human cultural groups, technology, and the Transcendentals, but that could just be me.
