That's not really my logic, though. Be kind here and assume I was talking about a SW RPG focused on the Rebellion era (i.e., the original films). Were it an RPG focused on the prequel era, or any other era/setup (e.g., KOTOR), BE equivalence would mean that it'd be focused on the "core story" or that era. It would not be just blowing up the Death Star or defending Naboo over and over, nor would it be just combat rules + info-dump.

He had access to Chris Moeller, iirc. That doesn't change the fact that BE + TPB is the sum total of all published info about the Iron Empires, and it's more than enough to go crazy-nuts with the World Burner and concoct all kinds of campaigns. I think that's what makes the IE so well suited to being an RPG setting; it's not detailed and complete.

If what you want, OTOH, is just to read (not play) a big info-dump that crosses all the T's and dots all the I's, leaving nothing for you to create yourself, then, yeah, maybe BE is not your game. The whole Nar aspect of BE would be crushed by a hyper-detailed setting. There has to be room for player authorship. E.g., there's no point to the tech Burner if the book's got a 60-page list of handguns.

If the PCs aren't tied to a given world (the one the group created together), then the Vaylen threat doesn't really have much weight ("The Vaylen are here!" "Well, better head to the next system."). If you remove the Vaylen threat and just go traveling, you veer further and further away from the source material and its "core story". At that point, you really might as well play GURPS.

Honestly, I would too, but less because I think BE is lacking, and more that I think there's even more awesome to be had with it. I'd love to see some alternate settings, a la Jihad and Under a Serpent Sun.
