There is more than one way to express foreboding darkness, and to be honest I think a dark, machiavellian scheming tone would have been more suitable to a game so embroiled in politics than half-poetry about death. More 'Dracula' or 'The Lost Boys' than 'Interview with the Vampire'. There are plenty of examples in myth and literature of vampires that aren't so caught up in their own misery that they have time to terrorise people. That's the kind of vampire I'd want to be; one of the smart ones who realise that for every weakness they have three strengths.
