Re: [RPG]: Aces & Eights: Shattered Frontier, reviewed by Galadrin (5/5)
You could have overlapping silhouettes printed on transparency's... or you could just have a silhouette printed on normal, white printer paper and just cut out all the silhouettes you want in the foreground! That's what I'm doing with my group, it's easiest and most economical. The A&8 website even has silhouettes of saloon doors, barrels etc to cut out and slap down over the evil-doer silhouettes.
Gary, I'm not sure if you tried it yet, but I have to say that combat is really fast. Yes, it slows down when you combine the movement and shooting actions together, but if you do a straight "draw!" style shootout, it's stunningly fast. In our group, the player rolls the d20 and while he is adding up any modifiers, the GM (myself) deals the player the top card of the deck. The card is ignored if the result is lower than 15 or 25 or higher (as those would represent complete miss and bull's eye, respectively). Given the fact that you will hit generally at least by the third bullet (at reasonable range), and given the fact that one bullet will likely knock your opponent to the dusty ground, a straight up shoot out can be resolved in a few minutes.
