I wrote an earlier review of Call of Cthulhu and agree with most of the points raised here. Why though did you not give it 5 out of 5 ?

Thanks for asking about this. I should have been more clear in my review.
Though I think this is an excellent game, not everyone likes the research- and investigation-heavy gameplay. I have had players that loved the fact most of the monsters were unstoppable through conventional means, while others really disliked this and wanted more monster bashing and less goin' crazy.
I'm still getting my feet under me when it comes to assigning numbers to reviews, as I pretty much just review games I like and enjoy. I don't want to give all of them a 5/5, and the fact is with a new player or someone not familiar with rpgs, I would have them play Spirit of the Century before I'd ever think of showing them CoC.
